Message from the Director
The Scott and Linda Carson Center for Professional Development is designed to help our students achieve their highest professional and personal potential. We recognize that they need skills that go beyond their rigorous classroom lessons. Through the Carson Center, students can learn interviewing strategies, professional resume writing, and job and internship search techniques. It is a place where they can also meet company representatives to expand their employment opportunities and networks. In addition, we encourage students to get involved and develop strong leadership skills through participating in academic clubs, mentorship programs, and more.
As director of the Carson Center, I am honored to have been part of its planning and development. Our student ambassadors as well as our student clubs have provided vital input and continue to assist in the Center's operations. It is a place where all students are welcome and helped to succeed.
I want to sincerely thank alumni Scott and Linda Carson for their vision in creating and funding the center, along with a University allocation from Provost Bob Bates. The Center opened in fall 2005, and has already served hundreds of students and employers seeking interns and graduates. The Carson Center truly is a vital career connection, where students are invited to "get involved" and "get ahead."
